The Grand Knight’s December Message

First – special notice and prayer request.

I want to ask for your prayers for one of our brother Knights, Richard Gzibovskis.  He is now in hospice care with a one-to-two-week life expectancy due to stage 4 liver cancer. Richard is the father of our treasurer, Andy Gzibovskis.  Please pray for Richard, Andy and all the family.

We all know that Christmas time can be especially emotionally challenging for those who are dealing with illness, financial challenges, or the death or memory of a loved one. Please note the following two lists in your prayers this season.

Sick and Distressed Knights and families. Please take the time to say a prayer for our fellow Knights and parishioners that are fighting personal and medical challenges. Seek the intercession of Blessed Fr. Michael J. McGivney.  Among those in need of prayers are Karyn Jacox (wife of John), Mike Hirsch, Nancy Cummins (wife of Ed), Tony Grego, Jack Fink, Eddie Ryan (wife of Dick), Frank Loughery, Victor Melchiorre, Richard Gzibovskis, Joe Finneran, Noah (Al Capuano’s grandson), Will Kuhn, and recently added: Anthony Lee, Doreen Larkey (mother of Ken Larkey), and Vince Dillon. And give thanks for prayers that are answered!
Contact Joe Cahill if you or someone you know needs to be added to or thankfully removed from the prayer list.

Deceased Knights from our Council. Remember in prayer: Fr. Noah Casey, Ray Dillon, Pete Cislak, Jim Dossman, Gene Wood, Karl Horlander, Ken Corbett, Tom Spencer, Bob Hartman, Dwaine Nault, Ed Rohan, Steve Weisert, John Purdie, Arnie Wagner, and Jim Loughery.

Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon them.
May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen!

  • Blood Drive. Kudos to brother Jeff O’Brien who organizes and recruits donors for our blood drives. 15 parishioners donated blood on November 12. There is always a need for blood and there will be another drive on April 28 at the parish. Please avail yourself of the opportunity to give the gift of life.
  • Recruiting drive at the rectory on November 13th. First, thanks to Monsignor Schaedel for hosting and supporting our efforts to recruit new members.  We had 6 interested candidates attend.  Please encourage Graydon Chisholm, Michael Irk and Pat Schaefer to join. The other three are unable to join at this time.
  • Coats for Kids. Kudos to brother Dave Fink who spearheaded the purchase and distribution of 162 coats at Holy Angels School November 21. Thanks to Frank Short, his wife Toni and my wife Lucy for their assistance.
  • The budget for 2024 was passed at the December 7th general meeting!
  • Pancake Breakfast. Thanks to all who served and/or turned out for the Pancake Breakfast on December 10th, and especially our leader Ken Larkey who came through again!  The free will offering was nearly $900.
